SYPartners: A Greatness Odyssey
Nothing short of a masterpiece, this film was created with my artist friend who worked at the SYP front desk. I wanted to learn how to record and edit video as well as create motion graphics using After Effects so I pitched this movie idea to my manager and a creative director at my first mid-year review and goal setting. I got a ‘go for it’ and a budget of $400. The video specialist in the office was an immense resource for me. Over the next 18 months my friend and I story-boarded, wrote, directed, recorded, edited, built sets, scheduled, and actually got all of the coworkers that we asked to act in it to actually do it. The result, an office viewing event in the San Francisco office. We were even flown to the NY office to have a viewing there. .
We sourced our coworkers for creative help throughout the process. There are parts where I wish the audio was better but our IT guy did all of the sound editing and music in the evenings for free—I believe while he was very high. You can’t beat free help. Some scenes are cinematic gold and others are the best we could do with the 30 minutes we had for a coworker who had to get to the train station to get home. Overall, we kicked cinematic ass.

Everyone was a huge sport. A British coworker did 14 takes trying to imitate an American accent.
